The Stretford End
Directly opposite the Scoreboard End is the famous Stretford End (West Stand), a part of the ground that has a special place in the heart of every Manchester United fan. The new Stretford End was completed in 1993 at a cost of 10.3 Million pounds - a huge sum when compared with the £350,000 cost of building the first Cantilever Stand in 1964. Within the new stand is a massive banqueting suite - the International - which can seat 400 people in one sitting. The International suite is available for a variety of functions, from birthday and wedding parties to conferences and exhibitions.   The Family Stand The Family Stand is situated in the corner adjoining the South Stand and Stretford End, and is next to the main tunnel. Only parents and children are allowed to sit here, and they must be either Manchester United Members or on an organised tour from a visiting club. This is the only section of the ground where United and visiting supporters are not segregated. The capacity of the family stand is 4,500. Special entertainment is provided for children prior to kick off, including Clowns, Magicians, Face Painters and the club mascot `Fred the Red'. The family stand is the only part of the ground where smoking is not allowed. Above the seating in the Family Stand sits the T.V. Studio where television presenters provide match coverage. When the matches are not televised this facility is available for hire to supporters. The view from here, as you would expect, is unsurpassed.
