The Press Lounge
 & Auditorium
This is in effect a small theatre
seating approximately sixty people.
In front of these seats is a row
of five seats behind  a well
constructed desk with
 microphone facilities.

After every match the reporters telephone their
match reports and final scores through to their
offices. This is followed by a press conference
usually attended by the Managers of both teams and
about twenty five reporters. Players are also
known to accompany the managers on certain occasions.

Press conferences on other subjects such as new
player signings take place in the Auditorium also.
Andy Cole is just one of the Manchester United
players that signed on the dotted line in this
room. The Auditorium is also equipped with a
screen for slide and video presentations and is
often hired out for corporate use.

The Press Box

Around 80 journalists from newspapers, radio and
television stations attend a typical Premiership
home match. Journalists meet in the press room
beforehand to sort out their notes and swap gossip;
a plaque on the wall commemorates the eight
journalists who perished at Munich. Then they pile
into the pressbox, watch the game, and finally
scramble for the phone lines to send their copy
down the line to HQ. For Euro '96, Old Trafford
had to accommodate a staggering 1,000 journalists
who came along to every game.
