After playing for both Bury and Greater Manchester Schoolboys, Gary Neville joined Manchester United straight from school on schoolboy forms in July 1991 and signed as a professional 18 months later in January 1993.
Gary Neville was a part of the successful youth team of 1992 and 1993 which saw players such as Butt, Beckham, Davies, Giggs, Scholes and Thornley all progress to the first team. He made his first senior appearance for Manchester United in the UEFA Cup in September 1992 against Rotor Volgograd, which ended in a goalless draw.
League debut came on the first day of the season away to Wimbledon as a substitute for the injured Nicky Butt. By the end of the season he had made 36 (6) appearances, which included nine Champions League games.When Gary and brother Phil played together for England in the summer of 1996 it was the first time brothers had played together in the England team since the Charltons in the 1960’s.
